SPOKANE, Wash. — Lake Coeur d’Alene is at its summer level, and the Spokane river is expected to rise in the coming week.
On Thursday morning, the Spokane River was running at 5,810 cubic feet per second through Riverfront Park. That’s roughly 2.6 million gallons of water going through the park every minute.
Avista monitors the water level in both Lake Coeur d’Alene and the Spokane River. It said that it expects the section of river running through Spokane to increase over the next week.
Spring runoff came early this year. The river hit its peak flow in March at more than 20,000 cubic feet per second.
Avista said it expects both Lake Coeur d’Alene and Lake Spokane to remain near summer levels throughout the summer months.
