WSU police officer shoots at student allegedly holding knife in residence hall

PULLMAN, Wash. — A student was shot at by a Washington State University (WSU) police officer after a report he was holding a knife in a residence hall.

According to WSU Police, officers responded to the fourth floor of Global Scholars residence hall for a report of a man with a knife. When officers arrived, it was reported that one fired a shot.

The student, 20-year-old John Bazan, was not struck, and WSU Police said he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The officer who fired their weapon will be placed on administrative leave. The regional officer-involved shooting investigative team will investigate this incident independently.
