SPOKANE, Wash – A crosswalk in Spokane’s Comstock neighborhood has come to life for spring, with the addition of the newest decorative crosswalk.
The crosswalk, designed by local artist Danielle Davis, is at Comstock and Lincoln on the west side of Comstock Park.
It’s the newest of the Asphalt Arts crosswalk. Asphalt Arts is a three-year pilot program with Spokane Arts and the City of Spokane.
The $972,950 program is paid for with traffic calming funds, generated by things like speed and red light cameras.
The city says the street murals aren’t just pretty, they actually slow traffic.
All 29 Spokane neighborhoods can apply for a crosswalk to be painted in their neighborhood.
