Expect another dry day as gusty winds and cloudier skies take over today.
Plan Your Friday
Friday brings a dry cold front in the afternoon, increasing westerly winds. Expect gusts between 30 and 40 mph near Wenatchee and the Waterville Plateau, with 25 to 35 mph gusts across the Columbia Basin and gusts 20 to 30 mph around Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. These winds could create patchy blowing dust and difficult driving conditions for high-profile vehicles west and south of the Spokane area.
Temperatures will stay on the cooler end of what we’ve been experiencing so far this month. Highs will hit the low 70s in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene with upper 70s to low 80s in the Columbia Basin. North Idaho temperatures will reach the upper 60s to low 70s.
While this cold front is “dry,” there will still be a small chance of a shower near the international border, along with widespread mostly cloudy skies.
What We’re Tracking
Skies clear up and temperatures rise slightly for Mother’s Day weekend. Saturday looks just about perfect with ample sunshine and highs in the mid-70s. Sunday will start a bit cloudier, and winds will pick up again as another weak disturbance rolls through late in the day. If you’re planning to be out on one of our lakes this weekend, remember that water temperatures are still in the 40s.
The warmth builds next week, and highs in the 80s become a stronger possibility around midweek while rain remains scarce.
