Spokane, WASH. — City and county crews are busy today assessing all the damage created by last night’s severe storm.
One man in the Emerson-Garfield neighborhood had his car destroyed by a tree that was toppled during the storm. He recently bought the car and says he didn’t have insurance on the car, so he’s left searching for what to do next.
A few neighbors living just off Indian Trial Road say a lightning strike caused appliances and Wi-Fi to stop working. People say it sounded like a bomb went off in front of the house and it reverberated through the house. One house had a broken window.
A City of Spokane spokesperson says 311 received 45 reports of downed trees, though some may be duplicates.
The parks crews have seen six trees down so far: two in Riverfront Park, one at Esmeralda Golf Course, two at Audubon Park, and one at Hays. They’ve also seen a significant number of branches down at the following parks: Coeur d’Alene, Kehoe, Cannon Hill, and Mission.
