SPOKANE, Wash. – After nearly ten weeks, crews have finished construction on the Maple Street Bridge.

The $4.7 million project started on Aug. 27 and was completed within the estimated ten-week timeframe. Construction involved grinding and removing part of the deck surface and replacing it with polyester concrete. Crews finished the concrete grind, overlay and joint repair of the project late Nov. 2.

“The Maple St. Bridge experiences some of our highest traffic levels in the City, and we knew this was going to be a pain point for drivers,” says Public Works Director Marlene Feist. “We are thrilled to have been able to replace the surface and also make critical joint repairs to give the bridge decades of life and safe travel.”

The Maple Street Bridge initially took two years to build, opening in July 1958. The bridge is one of the busiest in Spokane, with approximately 45,000 vehicles crossing it daily.
