Man held at gunpoint after walking into Spokane family’s home, charged with residential burglary

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man is in the Spokane County Jail after being held at gunpoint for walking into someone’s home.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies responded to reports of a residential burglary near the 7200 block of West 47th Avenue.

The homeowners said an unknown man walked into their home without knocking. The male victim grabbed a pistol and yelled for his wife to grab his shotgun while he held the man at gunpoint.

The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Adrian Hernandez, was taken into custody. Hernandez told deputies he lives nearby and was walking to the store when someone he didn’t know pointed him towards the home. He said he was following the “lights and moon” to the house.

No one was injured in this incident and the homeowner will not be charged.

Hernandez was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of residential burglary.
