How to donate to Red Cross in support of the wildfires burning around our region

SPOKANE, Wash. — The large wildfires that have started in our region has caused devastation within families, communities and the county. Hundreds of people have lost their homes and many people within the community are looking for a way to ease some of the pain.

The American Red Cross has two evacuation centers for people who have needed to evacuate their homes due to the fires. They are located at:

Spokane Falls Community College, 3410 W Whistalks Way Spokane, WARiverside High School, 4120 E Deer Park Milan Road Chattaroy, WA

But as of right now, Spokane County Emergency Management advises that the best way to help is by donating money.

Both the Oregon Fire and the Gray Fire together have destroyed over 300 structures and burned over 17,000 acres of land.

Emergency Management stated, “We as a community have no idea of the specific needs and monetary donations to the Red Cross are the most effective way to help right now.”

They want to emphasize that. they cannot accept donated items at this time.

In the future they may ask for specific goods that will help those affected, but right now they do not know what will benefit those in need.

If you are wanting to donate to the Red Cross to help those affected by the wildfires, go to the American Red Cross website donation page, then:

Click the drop down button showing “I want to support”Then choose “my local Red Cross” to ensure your donation stays in the Inland Northwest

If you have any questions or need assistance, call the Red Cross at (509) 326-3330 or visit their website for more information.
