MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — A quick-moving, catastrophic wildfire in Medical Lake has forced thousands to evacuate and destroyed more than 180 homes since it began on Friday.
As the Gray Road fire, as it has been dubbed by firefighters, continued to grow rapidly Saturday afternoon, officials produced a map detailing about how far the flames have spread.
According to Spokane County Fire District 3, the fire has burned north to the southernmost part of Medical Lake, where firefighters have confirmed several structures were destroyed.
It has burned past Silver Lake to Granite and Willow Lakes. It has burned southeast towards Graham Road south of I-90. It has burned as far east as Gray Road, where it started.
While that is the perimeter of the fire, it’s important to note that not everything within the fire perimeter has necessarily been destroyed. It’s also important to note the fire continues to grow and the fire perimeter will grow.
