SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Airway Heights Police Department (AHPD) and the City of Airways Heights came and supported the 2024 Women’s Healing & Empowerment Network’s (WHEN) Purple Ribbon Banquet.

“Flying with Broken Wings,” which is the 10th annual fundraising event was held Sunday in Spokane Valley. The event featured silent and live auctions, with proceeds benefiting WHEN’s programs and services.

“We are proud to support WHEN and its efforts to help women break free of abuse,” said AHPD Chief Brad Richmond. “The AHPD refers women to WHEN’s Safe House who are experiencing domestic violence and families to Cleone’s Closet and Food Pantry who are experiencing food insecurities. The resources WHEN provides are extremely valuable in our community and for the West Plains Crisis Response Team and our patrol division.”

WHEN was founded in 2008 by Mable Dunbar. The nonprofit offers resources to victims of domestic abuse. Mable also operates Cleone’s Closet Food Pantry in Airway Heights.
