WENATCHEE, Wash.- The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man the afternoon of Feb. 7 after he allegedly fled from police with a stolen vehicle.

The incident began with a call notifying authorities that a car had been stolen, and that a friend of the vehicle’s owner was tailing the stolen car.

Michael McGuire, who is accused of stealing the vehicle, allegedly fled police when a deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over.

State law prohibits law enforcement from chasing stolen cars if there is no immediate threat to others posed by the individual in the vehicle. McGuire allegedly drove the car to a dead-end, at which point he attempted to run away on foot and was located by the sheriff’s office.

McGuire is currently in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center and has been charged with four separate counts related to the stolen vehicle.
