OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz offered her thoughts on an earthquake which hit portions of the east coast on Friday.

The 4.8 magnitude quake shook New York City this morning but did not cause any life-threatening injuries.

Franz gave her assessment of the natural event on social media.

“4.8…cute,” Franz said.

There has not been a significant earthquake in Washington State since the early 2000s.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an individual should drop to the ground and cover both their head and neck if they begin to feel the effects of an earthquake.
