SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County Fire District 4 welcomed a new member to their team.

K9 Chardonnay is trained as an Accelerant Detection Canine and will join her handler, Fire Marshal Jared Harms, as part of the Accelerant Detection team. After her 200-hour accredited course, Chardonnay was certified by the Maine State Police.

According to SCFD4, Chardonnay will assist fire investigations by gathering samples that are more likely to come back from the lab positive for ignitable liquids.

“Chardonnay will be an invaluable asset for Fire investigations with her keen sense of smell,” SCFD4 said.

Chardonnay was awarded to the Fire District through a fully funded scholarship.
