SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County Fire District #8 held a training session with Avista on Friday focusing on natural gas emergencies.
The training included both firefighters and utility workers and featured a burning car.
Natural gas emergencies are a consistent challenge for both Avista and Spokane emergency responders. Spokane County Fire District #3 responded to a natural gas leak in Cheney on Friday night which required Avista workers.
“We respond to many natural gas emergencies with utility workers from [Avista]. So, to have a chance to train with them has been epic,” the fire district said.
Natural gas leak emergencies in Spokane should be reported to 911 and 1 (800) 227-9187.
