SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane City Council Member Jonathan Bingle (R) has officially filed to run for US Congress.

Bingle shared a photo of himself at the Spokane County Elections office on Thursday. He is now the second prominent Republican candidate to file for Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ current seat.

The city council member emphasized his socially conservative platform as well as his intention to advocate for a smaller federal budget if elected to congress and shared his campaign’s top priorities.

“I am running for Congress to lead an ‘American Revival’ that empowers parents, cuts federal spending, and secures our borders. Together, we will put Washington’s 5th Congressional District and our great nation back on the path to prosperity” Bingle said.

Bingle is behind in fundraising but was given a 94% candidate ranking by the Spokane County Republican Party in April.
