2 injured after wrong way driver causes head-on collision on I-90 near Ritzville

RITZVILLE, Wash. — A wrong way driver caused a head-on collision on I-90 near Ritzville, leaving two injured.

On Nov. 12 around 11 p.m., WSP was called to a head-on collision on eastbound I-90 near Ritzville. As crews arrived on scene they saw that both drivers were injured.

Through investigation, WSP found that a 28-year-old man was driving on the wrong side of the road when he collided with a vehicle traveling on westbound I-90. The vehicle hit head-on was driven by a 76-year-old man who was transported to the hospital by life flight.

All westbound lanes were blocked as crews continued investigating.

The 28-year-old man has been charged with driving while intoxicate.

Information will be released as we learn more.

The crash has been cleared and all westbound lanes are back open.

All westbound lanes on I-90 near Ritzville are blocked due to a two car collision.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), near milepost 240 on eastbound I-90, a head-on collision occurred around 11 p.m. last night.

Multiple agencies responded overnight and are investigating this incident.

At this time, WSP has not released the cause of the crash of if there are any injuries.

While all westbound lanes are closed, there is a detour route set in place for drivers.
