SPOKANE, Wash. — A search warrant filed on Thursday in Spokane County Superior Court revealed what are likely some of the last texts from a 49-year-old woman who went missing in November.

Deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office found Jannell Martensen’s body on Dec. 14, following the death of two major suspects in her disappearance, 23-year-old Kiara Morgan-Weiland and 37-year-old Colton Russell.

The search warrant filed Thursday shows that in the early morning of Nov. 19, Martensen texted at least three friends with messages like “please come get me I’m scared to death” and “I’m afraid he’s going to kill me please.”

No attempts were made to go get Martensen that morning.

Search warrants revealed that authorities located Martensen’s body where it was disposed and left inside a toolbox that had previously been in Russell’s truck bed. The truck had been abandoned on a residential property on Madison Road in Valleyford, because it allegedly broke down.

On Dec. 9, authorities searched Russell’s house and found blood splattered on the living room walls, a sponge inside a garbage can that tested positive for blood and large sections of carpet that showed possibly traces of blood.

Later that same evening, Russell and Morgan-Weiland were attacked and killed.

During the investigation of the murders, authorities found that Morgan-Weiland had viewed multiple suspicious YouTube videos with titles like “Toxic couple turned serial killer” and “missing person found after 15 years.”

On Dec. 16, Brandon Kelly, 25, was arrested and admitted to killing both Russell and Morgan-Weiland in connection to Martensen’s disappearance.

Kenny told investigators that Russell had admitted to him that he accidentally killed Martensen in November, and then put a gun in Kenny’s mouth to threaten him to help move the body.

He also said he had shot Russell and stabbed Morgan-Weiland 51 times. He told police he “needed” to kill Morgan-Weiland because “she was the only other person who knew anything about the situation.”
