OKANOGAN, Wash. – President Joe Biden has approved a disaster declaration and funding for supplemental recovery efforts in some areas of Washington.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that sixteen counties in Washington, including Okanogan and Ferry, will receive federal funding for emergency repairs and replacements of damaged facilities.

The disaster declaration is a response to severe winter storms, flooding, winds, mudslides, and landslides that occurred on January 5, 2024.

The funding will also support statewide hazard mitigation efforts on a cost-sharing basis. Additional areas may be added later if requested by the state and approved by FEMA.
