Medical examiners confirm two children’s deaths in Spokane house fire

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner has confirmed the death of two children in a house fire in West Central Spokane.

The two children Christopher Desislets, 7, and Aiden Desislets, 2, died from inhalation of products of combustion and thermal injuries.

The two children were taken to the hospital following the fire but did not survive and were removed from life support according to the family.

The Spokane Fire Department reported that the fire, which occurred on April 20, near North Howard Street, was sparked by an electrical problem involving an extension cord used as permanent wiring.

The house also had no working smoke detectors.

Arielle and Robert Desislets, also died in the house fire, with Robert declared dead at the scene and Arielle dying later on at the hospital.
