National Weather Service issues wind warning for much of the Inland Northwest

SPOKANE, Wash. — The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for much of the Inland Northwest starting Tuesday morning and continues through 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

Southwest winds are expected to be around 25 – 35 mph with wind gusts reaching 45-55 mph.

The areas under this wind advisory include: Plummer, Tekoa, Ephrata, Othello, Spokane Valley, Coulee City, La Crosse, Potlatch, Coeur d’Alene, Lapwai, Lewiston, Davenport, Rosalia, Cheney, Peck, Craigmont, Wilbur, Post Falls, Airway Heights, Ritzville, Hayden, Culdesac, Moses Lake, Harrington, Fairfield, Odessa, Oakesdale, Genesee, Worley, Soldiers Meadow Road, Quincy, Gifford, Colfax, Grand Coulee, Winchester, Moscow, Uniontown, downtown Spokane, Rockford, Pullman, Kamiah, Lewiston Grade, Creston and Nez Perce.

NWS expects there to be gusty winds that will blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and isolated power outages may occur. High profile vehicle drivers are urged to use caution when driving in these conditions.

In those areas as well there is a winter storm warning in place as heavy snow accumulations (up to 10 inches above 2,000 feet) and mountain winds between 30-50 mph come into the Inland Northwest.

With this, there will be hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while driving.

These warnings are set to be in effect until Wednesday morning.
