Multiple people shot in Toppenish, at least two dead

TOPPENISH, Wash.-At least two people have been confirmed dead after an early morning shooting in Toppenish on October 19 according to NonStop Local’s Cristian Garza, who is on scene.

Police are currently investigating the shooting on the 200 block of Pearne St. Toppenish Police and Yakama Nation Tribal Police are on scene.

Lincoln Ave. is closed from C St. to B St. around a home in the area as the investigation continues.

According to a social media post from Toppenish Police the investigation is considered a homicide, however, there is no outstanding suspect at this time and there is no active threat to the community.

The Toppenish School District is aware of the incident and the ongoing investigation. According to acting Superintendent Shawn Myers, the district has been in constant contact with Toppenish Police and has been informed that there is no threat to schools or the community.

Reports of the shooting came in around 5:00 a.m. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is more than one gunshot victim.

According to Toppenish Police Sergeant Venderhoof that is all the information that is known and that will be released at this time.

There are unverified social media accounts of the number of victims in this developing situation, however, NonStop Local will not report on the number of victims without first confirming with the investigating law enforcement agencies.
