PALOUSE, Wash. — Multiple schools around the Palouse went into lockdown due to alleged threats towards Moscow High School and Palouse schools.

On Sept. 26 just after 12 p.m., there was a report of two active shooters at the Moscow High School campus.

The school and surrounding businesses were placed on a lockdown while officers and deputies cleared the buildings.

Officers quickly determined that the threat was not credible.

Around the same time, the school administration at Palouse school campus received another report of an alleged threat. All buildings were placed on lockdown while The City of Palouse Police Department canvassed the building.

Officers quickly said it was safe but remained on campus.

As both of these schools went into lockdown, Pullman School District issued a “secure and teach” status to remain cautious. There was no threat towards those specific schools.

According to the Washington School Safety Center, they “received notice that similar threats are being made to school districts across the eastern side of our state, following the known ‘swatting hoax.'”

Swatting is defined as a false report of an ongoing emergency or threat of violence intended to prompt an immediate tactical law enforcement response.

These swatting scenarios include:

Around 12:30 p.m., all lockdowns in that area were lifted. Law enforcement has confirmed that there are no credible threats to any of the school campuses.
