Investigation underway after deputy-involved shooting in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a deputy-involved shooting in Spokane Valley Tuesday night.

According to the Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD), deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 6800 block of E 10th around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

Callers told law enforcement a man was trying to break into a house and that he was possibly armed with a gun. Deputies also learned the man had a possible warrant out for his arrest for domestic violence.

Upon arrival, a deputy fired shots at the suspect. The suspect was immediately treated for his wounds and was transported to the hospital. No one else was injured in this shooting.

SVPD said what appears to be a firearm was found in the vicinity of the shooting.

Per standard procedure, the deputy involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The 6800 block of E 10th and surrounding areas will be blocked for many hours while the investigation continues.

Spokane Independent Investigative Regional Response Team will take over this investigation.
