SPOKANE, Wash. — If you love art in all its forms, good news: Terrain 14 is here!

For over a decade, local nonprofit Terrain has been making strides building up Spokane’s local art scene, turning the city into a hub for artists of all media to thrive creatively and economically. With big events like the Bazaar (and BrrrZAAR in the winter),artist showcases at the Terrain Gallery and Annex, and the art-driven beautification program, Window Dressing, there are countless ways the organization has enriched the art scene for creators and connoisseurs alike.

The main annual event, however, is Terrain. Held the first Friday in October, it’s a one-night-only, multimedia art and music extravaganza celebrating all things art in Spokane!

On Oct. 6, nearly 400 local artists will be displaying more than 800 artworks for community members in a true treat for the sense. The event will run from 5 p.m. to midnight in downtown Spokane at Jensen Byrd 2.0, located at 314 W. Riverside Avenue. Many artists will be selling their work, with prices ranging from $10 to over a $1,000, so it’s a good time to find some one-of-a-kind artwork to display at all price ranges.

Best of all, admission is free for all ages!

If you just can’t wait to feast your eyes on the fresh ideas and amazing talent from around the region, or you wish you could enjoy the visual arts with a smaller crowd, you can enjoy an advanced viewing the day before!

For $25, you can snag a ticket to Preview Night, a 3-hour showing of art which allows you to skip the lines, beat the crowds, meet the artists and, of course, get first dibs on buying the art!

While most of the live performances for local musicians is scheduled for Friday night, Time Baby will be performing live at Preview Night’s opening at 6 p.m., and rosethrow will have a live DJ set from 6-9 p.m.

You can grab your tickets for Preview Night online, so get it while the going’s good!

The main event will feature live performances of all sorts, from literary readings to musical performances and more. Some will even be interactive, so you can really feel immersed in the art.

Although admission to Terrain 14 is free, the venue fits 1,200 people. So if you’re not fond of waiting in line, be sure to arrive early!

If you’re so eager to arrive you skip out on dinner, don’t fret. A beer garden, nonalcoholic drinks, and food trucks will be there for nourishment so you can stay focused on the art while enjoying some tasty food.
