OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee (D) attended a memorial night for officers killed in the line of duty on Friday night.

Hosted by Behind the Badge, an advocacy organization which promotes Washington’s law enforcement agencies.

Inslee described his experience of the memorial event in a social media post.

“We remembered those lost in the line of duty, and awarded 19 officers medals for meritorious conduct. These officers stopped a mass shooter. They pulled someone from a burning car. They saved someone from self-harm. To the awardees, we are grateful for your courage,” Inslee said.

Police from across the Evergreen State were present including Washington State Patrol (WSP), the Pasco Police Department and Redmond Police Department. Inslee also recently attended WSP’s Trooper Basic Training graduation.
