Gonzaga rival fan roots for Gonzaga while in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – One Saint Mary’s fan is choosing peace with Gonzaga (GU) fans while he visits Spokane for the first time.

This weekend sports fans from all over the country are experiencing Spokane for the first time. Many of them knew very much about the city before they got here. Zack Farmer is one of them.

Farmer was born and raised in the greater San Francisco / Oakland area. In 2008 he graduated from St. Mary’s with a degree in communications. Since then, he has grown very familiar with Gonzaga and how good both the men’s and women’s basketball can be.

Farmer requested today March 21-22 off of work as soon as he learned the schedule for the tournament. Even if his team was playing across the country and a trip was too expensive, he wanted to dedicate those days to watching basketball.

Now that the WCC tournament is done, Farmer is excited to support Gonzaga in the tournament as a fellow west coast team. In his bracket he picked GU to go to the Sweet 16, and he doesn’t buy into all the talk against GU.

If you see Farmer while you’re out, you can say hi, just remember that he wants to keep things friendly. He booked his return flight for Monday because he’s confident his team will be playing two games in Spokane.
