SPOKANE, Wash. – Former Idaho State Police Trooper Daniel Howard, who is currently on trial for the murder of his wife, was arrested at the Spokane International Airport on Friday night.

Howard was booked into Spokane County Jail at around 10:40 pm on Friday. He is being held as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition. Sources say he was booked into jail on a felony warrant out of Idaho.

Howard is accused of killing Kendy Howard on Feb. 2, 2021. Prosecutors believe he then staged the death to appear as a suicide.

The former ISP Trooper was previously charged with grand theft while still on the force in 2014.

The second week of the Howard trial concluded on Thursday, with both the prosecution and defense calling witnesses.

Whether law enforcement accuses Howard of attempting to flee justice or if his arrest was for a separate suspected offense is not yet confirmed by authorities.

This is a developing story. More information will appear as available.
