First Friday returns to Downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – Downtown Spokane will come alive with art, music, culture and community on Friday, June 5th as First Friday returns.

The First Friday will have more than two dozen exhibitions, performances, receptions, and special events throughout the downtown core. As Spokane celebrates Pride Month, many of June’s featured events highlight LGBTQ+ artists, performers, and creative voices.

A centerpiece of the evening is the debut of First Friday Face-Off, a live art competition where local artists Pearl Sakaske, Jordan De Leon, and Jansen Niccals will transform blank canvases into original works before a live audience.

Guests can also enjoy interactive activities, community engagement opportunities, and a Pride-themed variety show curated by Mykel Greene. The audience-selected winner will advance toward the year-end Brushes & Boughs championship, where Spokane’s First Friday Artist of the Year will be crowned.

First Friday organizers say the event provides the perfect opportunity to explore Downtown Spokane’s restaurants, retailers, nightlife, and entertainment venues.

Most venues are open from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There is a full list of activities and artists.
