Eastbound I-90 near Vantage Bridge closed due to whiteout and blizzard conditions

VANTAGE, Wash. — I-90 eastbound from Kittitas into George is closed due to adverse road conditions and semi spin-outs blocking the highway east of Vantage Bridge.

At 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, Washington State Patrol reported that I-90 Vantage Bridge east was closed due to a whiteout and blizzard conditions.

At 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, crews arrived on scene to clear the southbound SR-26 ramp to create an alternative route for drivers.

Drivers were detoured using the SR-26 ramp to access Othello and Sr-17.

Tow truck crews from George arrived on scene to assist with clearing the eastbound lane of spin-outs up the hill on I-90.

Some traffic is moving very slowly. WSDOT and crews on scene ask for drivers to be patient and pay attention if they are waiting in this incident. Road and weather conditions are still not ideal, so make sure your are being careful driving along I-90.

If you are experiencing an emergency, you are advised to call 911.

As of 6:03 a.m. on Jan. 12, WSDOT has released that “crews are working to clear the semis from the travel lanes. An estimated reopen time is not determined.”
