Bill streamlining Working Families Tax Credit gains broad support in Washington Legislature

OLYMPIA, Wash.- A policy which would make it easier to apply for the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) has passed both chambers of the Washington Legislature with unanimous support.

HB 1895 clarifies that the WFTC is a refundable tax credit for low-to-moderate income Washingtonians, and makes it easier to apply online.

The credit that eligible individuals receive back from the state government would be inflation-adjusted, meaning the legislature would not have to retroactively increase the graduating maximum credit amounts to account for inflation.

Given that HB 1895 has gained the unanimous support of both chambers, it is likely that the bill will hit the governor’s desk during this session.
