SPOKANE, Wash. – The nine Spokane Police Officers who discharged their weapons in a deadly shooting on Spokane’s South Hill late last month returned to work.

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) confirmed the nine officers returned to the force last week after meeting with investigators.

“They’ve had the appropriate time to connect with the independent investigation team and their own department’s peer support teams,” said Julie Humphreys, SPD Public Information Officer.

On Jan. 31, SPD responded to reports of a man threatening to kill himself and others near Stevens and Cliff on Spokane’s South Hill. SPD said the man raised a gun at officers on at least two occasions before the nine officers shot and killed him.

All offers who discharged their weapon were temporarily placed on leave following the incident and have since returned.

This incident remains under investigation.
