Group of bikers frustrated after being impeded during event supporting girl scouts

SPOKANE, Wash. – The American Road Zombies biker club was stopped outside of a Maverik gas station in Spokane during an annual event supporting girl scouts.

American Zombies, who totaled about 50 bikers during their attempted cookie run, are frustrated with Maverik and say that they were simply trying to support scouting in Spokane.

Matt Cooper, a member of the club, said the group typically gasses up and grabs snack before embarking on their trip to buy as many girl scout cookies as they can from a local booth.

“They have a sales goal, we want to help them meet that. Oftentimes it’s for something awesome like going on a trip that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do or funding [an] activity in their community,” Cooper said.

Cooper said his club received permission from the Maverick to gather beforehand. When the day of the event came, the bikers said they were stopped by armed guards when they attempted to approach the Maverik.

Cooper posted about the incident to Facebook. His post was shared more than 8,000 times as of Thursday morning. Maverik responded to his posted stating that the gas station chain has a policy against gathering on their property.

Maverik didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment.
