SPOKANE, Wash. — YWCA Spokane has launched its annual “Hope for the Holidays” and is asking the public to sponsor 15 more families to help them receive gifts from their wishlists!

Hope for the Holidays is an initiative that provides community members with an opportunity to sponsor a holiday wishlist of one or more families serviced by YWCA Spokane.

This year is one of their biggest years, they have 90 families looking for support compared to 55 families in 2022.

“So far, we have 60 out of the 90 families sponsored. That gives us 9 more days to get the additional 30 wishlists adopted before December 6th,” states Erica Schreiber, Director of Community Engagement. “It is so important to us to get these wishlists sponsored. This program provides our community with a special way to make a significant direct impact on local families who are experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, and unemployment.”

All types of gifts are accepted including gift cards, which allows individuals or parents to pick gifts for themselves.

Here is how to help and get involved:

Adopt a family’s wishlist: Visit the YWCA Spokane’s website to sign up to sponsor a wishlist. Once you sign up a staff member will match you with a family!Gifts must be returned, unwrapped to YWCA Spokane between Dec. 6-8 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. so they can be distributed ahead of the holidays.Give online: you can designate a financial gift on the YWCA website and staff members can purchase items for families for you!Share the love: Spread the word about Hope for the Holidays to your friends and family and encourage them to participate.
