WSU health sciences, Spokane public library, Spokane public schools host fall health fair

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Associated Students of Washington State University Health Sciences (ASWSUHS), Spokane Public Library and Spokane Public Schools will be hosting a fall health fair this Saturday.

The goal for this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase community engagement.

On Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Shadle Park Library, everyone is invited to join for a day of education, entertainment and engagement.

The health fair will have activities, demonstrations and health screenings presented by WSU Health Science students for everyone who attends.

“Together, we aim to promote awareness of healthy lifestyle habits and disease prevention,” said ASWSUHS President Anna Schmidt. “With a wide array of topics to explore, you can learn more about exercise, nutrition, dental hygiene, blood pressure, fire safety, vegetable gardening, and much more. This event is a chance to give back to the amazing Spokane community!”

Some of the topics that the event will cover include: exercise, nutrition, hand hygiene, dental hygiene, mental health, heart health, blood pressure and more!

Anyone who attends will have the choice to join additional activities that include:

The Art on Intuitive Eating – Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.Stretch Smart, Flexibility for Life – Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

“Health is such a multifaceted topic and by partnering with WSU Health Sciences, we can help bring their invaluable knowledge to our diverse group of library patrons including other students, families, and individuals of all ages and backgrounds,” said Community Educator, Juan Juan Moses.

The first 200 attendees will receive free food to refuel and recharge during the event, and there will also be raffle prizes! This event is set to promote the community’s commitment to promoting health.
