PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University (WSU) is increasing its 2024-25 tuition for undergraduate and graduate students.

Members of the WSU Board of Regents held a meeting to take action on several items and hear reports from constituencies across the system. They approved a 3% increase in tuition that would affect students regardless of residency status.

According to WSU, Students who are part of specific degree programs will not have their tuition increased. The programs include:

College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Doctor of Pharmacy programCollege of Veterinary Medicine’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programCollege of Nursing’s Master of Nursing program

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine plans to propose tuition rates before the board for approval in March.

WSU expects to incur increased costs related to the college’s first-ever contract with WSU Academic Student Employees. WSU President Kirk Schulz addressed the need for that agreement in his presentation to board members.

“At the end of the day, I think when we talk about strengthening Washington State University, this is a key component because our graduate students are key to our research enterprise,” Schulz said. “We need exceptional graduate students that feel supported, compensated, and want to come to Washington State University.”

The committee also voted to approve revisions to several policies, including its conflict of interest and committee charter policies, amend WSU Foundation’s investment policy, and ratify existing medical residency agreements.
