RENTON, Wash. – A woman was found dead in a cemetery in Mexicali, Mexico after being reported missing from her home in Renton in February, according to police.
Reyna Hernandez, 54, was an unidentified body at the cemetery until Renton police became aware of a news article published about her remains.
Investigators contacted Mexico authorities to help confirm that it was Hernandez and were able to identify her based off her tattoos.
The suspect in her death is her long-time partner and was arrested on unrelated charges in Mexico. If investigators determine Hernandez was killed in the U.S. the suspect will be extradited.
Although the death has not yet been ruled a homicide, detectives do believe it is a domestic violence crime and it remains under investigation.
