Washington Legislative Page Program holds 2024 mock committee

OLYMPIA, Wash.- For the entire history of Washington State, legislative pages have served in House and Senate sessions at the state capitol. The annual mock committee which is the culmination of the page program took place on Feb. 22.

The session simulated a real Senate committee and took place in an official hearing room.

Students from across Washington were represented, and discussed policies under Robert’s Rules of Order, which is the standard parliamentary guide used across state legislatures.

High school students interested in serving as pages can check the legislature’s website for additional details.

Given that many individuals who serve as pages become lawmakers or policy influencers, it is clear that a future generation of leaders made their opinions known in the state legislature today.
