WALLA WALLA, Wash.-No injuries were reported and no chemicals or fuel leaked into nearby storm drains after a cargo trailer fire on March 29.

Walla Walla Fire Stations 1 and 2 responded to the cargo trailer fire in the parking lot of the Taqueria Yungapeti at 320 S. 9th Ave around 6:36 p.m. after receiving reports that the fire was spreading to the building.

The 20-foot cargo trailer and tow vehicle were parked near the building and the trailer was burning, according to the City of Walla Walla, but had not spread to the building when fire crews arrived and the fire was put out by 6:44 p.m.

The City of Walla Walla Public Works prevented runoff from chemicals and fuel that were in the trailer from going into nearby storm drains and the Department of Ecology was notified of the situation.

Fire investigators determined that the fire was an accident, caused by mechanical equipment failure.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $40,000, according to the City of Walla Walla.
