Spokane road construction could affect spring and summer travel

SPOKANE, Wash. – Many Spokane roads are undergoing updates and improvements as construction season commences.

Some roads will be closed or have alternate routes, causing traffic delays and blockages. It’s important to use caution when driving through these construction areas.

Three main construction projects will impact Spokane drivers.

The first project is the Bigelow Gulch project, which involves expanding lanes and improving safety by straightening a new road.

This road will be closed from April 1st until late fall, spanning from Havana Street to Welie Road in both directions.

On the South Hill of Spokane, 29th Avenue between Grand Boulevard and Ray Street will be going down to one lane for construction, starting on April 1st.

The last project is the Cheney-Spokane Road. While the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction, it will remain open during construction.

This project will affect the areas from the 195 interchange to Latah Bistro, focusing on improving the road and installing sewer lines.
