‘Very out of character’: Man goes missing after night out in Spokane, family pleads for help

SPOKANE, Wash. – A family is desperately searching for answers after suddenly losing contact with their brother and friend, 28-year-old Alexander Piceno, who went missing late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

“We just want Alex to know that we miss him, we love him, and we’re doing everything we can to find out more information,” Madeira Roy, Alexander’s brother, said.

Piceno moved to Spokane from Salt Lake City, Utah around three years ago. In Spokane, his circle is small, very tight knit, with his two daughters and close friends almost always by his side.

On Wednesday, Piceno’s two siblings, along with the mother of his children and her sister, gathered to put up missing persons flyers across downtown Spokane. As the rain came down, the posters went up; one by one, Piceno’s family made sure his face would be seen. The face of their brother, friend, and a loving father of two girls.

According to them, Piceno would never just up and leave.

“It’s heart wrenching because that’s not something he would ever do,” Cami Aguayo, Piceno’s friend and aunt to his daughters, said. “He’s always in communication with either me or Crystal about the girls, about what we’re doing as a family. We do Sunday dinner, and he wasn’t there, it wasn’t the same.”

Not the same at all without Piceno. The man’s brother and sister drove all the way to the Inland Northwest from Utah to help search.

“We’re just trying to puzzle everything, put things together,” Roy said.

But that is not an easy task with so many factors left unknown. According to his friends and family, Piceno was last seen either at popular bar and restaurant, Borracho Tacos & Tequileria, or popular night club, The Globe Bar & Grill, right across the street at the corner of Division and Main.

Piceno’s family said nothing has been out of the ordinary lately in his behavior or routine.

“He’s been in really high spirits, he just bought a car on Friday, he’s been going to the gym, taking care of what he needs to take care of and making sure his girls are priority,” Aguayo said. “This is very out of character.”

Piceno was last seen wearing blue jeans and a button-up shirt. He has tattoos on each forearm, one reading “April” the other reading “Piceno.”

He is 5’10, Hispanic and Native. Piceno’s family is asking the public to keep an eye out.

This is an ongoing investigation led by Spokane Police, as of Wednesday evening there are no updates on Piceno’s whereabouts; if you have any information to share, if you have seen or heard from the missing father of two, please call Crime Check: (509) 456 – 2233.
