Trial of Idaho State Patrol trooper accused of murdering wife to begin Monday

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The trial of Daniel Howard, a former Idaho State Patrol (ISP) trooper accused of killing his wife, is set to begin on Monday.

Howard allegedly shot his wife to death on Feb. 2, 2021.

The former ISP trooper hadn’t been a member of law enforcement since 2014 prior to his arrest, as he was also previously charged with grand theft while still on the force.

The trial will take place in Kootenai County.
