Thunder returns to the forecast Wednesday afternoon ⚡️

Storms are back in the forecast as we see some afternoon wet weather on what will be the warmest day of the week.

Plan Your Wednesday

Wednesday brings highs in the mid 70s to low 80s with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. For Spokane and Coeur d’Alene the most likely time for stormy weather to start is 3 to 5 pm with some rain lingering as late as 9 or 10.

These storms may produce small hail and wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph through Wednesday Night. As we continue to dry out around the region, new fire starts are possible where we see lightning. Beneficial rainfall of a few tenths of an inch is possible under the bigger storm cells. Overall, these storms will be significantly less powerful than what we saw last week.

What We’re Tracking

Breezy conditions develop on Friday with southwest gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph, resulting in elevated fire concerns in the Columbia Basin. A cooling trend follows on Saturday with highs in the 60s. Frost is a concern for the Cascades and northern valleys on Sunday Night and Monday Night. Showers are possible with this cool weekend system, but don’t look especially likely right now.
