Thieves tear apart Spokane home and steal thousands of dollars worth of stuff

SPOKANE, Wash – A Spokane home was torn apart and burglarized Saturday night.

The family wasn’t around when the theft happened and thousands of dollars worth of stuff and valuable possessions were stolen.

It happened at the intersection of Crown and Standard.

Leanne Green and her husband have lived in the home for 38 years. She says this has never happened

“I feel very violated. They stole everything from,” Leanne Green said.

It’s hard to calculate just how much was stolen, but it’s easy to know just how valuable some of the items were.

“I know they’re just possessions, but they were possessions from my mom, from my grandma,” Green said.

She was out of town when the burglary happened. Green believes the thieves entered the house from the basement.

Once they got in, they completely ransacked the house, throwing stuff all over.

“Shock. Shock because we lock everything up. We deadbolt everything,” Green said.

They even stored some of their most valuable items in this safe, but that didn’t deter the thieves.

They sawed through the safe on each side and stole cash, and jewelry, and even dismantled the barrels of these guns.

“That’s why I had a safe because I thought that it was safe! We take good precautions,” Green said.

Arguably, Green did everything right. All the doors and windows were locked before she left. even the gate to her backyard was deadbolt locked.

“They’ve stolen my security. I’ve always felt secure in my home. I’ve lived here for 38 years,” Green said.

Spokane Police are now investigating. The crooks left behind some soda cans and a used Kleenex, so hopefully they’ll be able to identify whoever is responsible.

“Get a security system. No matter how good that you think you can lock up your home, you can’t,” Green said.

Green’s message to whoever did this.

“You’ll be caught. Your day will come. Karma comes back and it’s going to bite you,” Green said.

Green tells NonStop Local’s John Webb that within the last month, four other homes were burglarized in her neighborhood.
