COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Coeur d’Alene police, with assistance from SWAT officers, were able to arrest a 34-year-old man from Lewiston who was wanted for an active felony warrant.

On Feb. 4 around 12:30 p.m., Coeur d’Alene police were alerted to the location of a wanted subject, 34-year-old Ryan Glenn Covey from Lewiston, Idaho.

Initial information indicated that Covey was in the Riverstone area in a restroom near the Atlas Waterfront Park. Officers confirmed that Covey was in the restroom and immediately secured the area.

Law enforcement began giving Covey commands who was uncooperative and refused to come out.

Covey had an active felony warrant for domestic-related issues and witness intimidation. Coeur d’Alene police were informed that Covey had access to weapons and was often armed.

Out of caution, SWAT officers were called to assist police in getting Covey into custody.

Even with SWAT on the scene, Covey was uncooperative and refused to exit the bathroom. SWAT worked to persuade Covey to surrender peacefully, which was unsuccessful.

Law enforcement then deployed OC gas into the restroom forcing Covey to exit. When Covey was outside he was uncooperative and did not respond to commands. A K9 was deployed which at that point was when SWAT could take him into custody.

Covey was taken to the hospital to be treated for his minor injuries. He has now been transported to Kootenai County Public Safety Building where he was booked for resisting and obstructing officers and for his felony warrant.
