Spokane International Film Festival celebrates its 25th edition with a week full of events

SPOKANE, Wash. – Calling all filmmakers and filmgoers, the Spokane International Film Festival (SpIFF) is back for its 25th edition starting Friday.

On Feb. 9 the week-long event will kick off at the Bing Crosby Theater starting at 7 p.m. with a showcase of short films featuring local and regional artists, “The Best in the Northwest” and an opening party following the screening and discussion with filmmakers at Montvale Event Center.

The festival will continue through Feb. 15 with screenings daily at the Magic Lantern Theater. Also, Virtual SpIFF offerings will begin on Feb. 10 and continue through Feb. 22.

The line-up of films for 2024 include:

The documentary Punderneath It All, heavily features Spokane’s own Punderground pun slam.Fancy Face is a film starring current Academy Award nominee for best actress, Northwest native Lily Gladstone.Daruma, a dark comedy that received the project reframe stamp of approval from Women in Film and the Sundance Institute, an award-winning film.Hard Miles starring Matthew Modine and Sean Astin.and so much more!

Tickets for these individual shows are on sale now. Passes sell out quickly, so if you are interested in seeing any of these short films, go to the Spokane International Film Festival website.

SpIFF is known for bringing filmmakers and performers together where they can interact with audiences. This year is no exception, there will be 18-27 screening events with many creative contributors in attendance.

This event is a great opportunity for viewers to ask questions and hear unique stories and insights from filmmakers.

If you don’t want to attend the event in person, you can watch it virtually. SpIFF is not limited in availability to just the local Inland Northwest audience, much of the content is also available to stream online from the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene metro area. In fact, SpIFF offers many different access options to the festival content.
