Stevens County deputy released from hospital following burglary shooting

NINE MILE FALLS, Wash. — A Stevens County sheriff’s deputy who was shot during a gunfire exchange with a burglary suspect Tuesday has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with his family, authorities said.The deputy was wounded while responding to a burglary call on Suncrest Drive after a homeowner reported seeing someone break in through security cameras. He underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.The suspect later was found inside the home with what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died, according to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.The Washington State Patrol is investigating.
