SPOKANE, Wash – One person was killed and police have detained another in a shooting Thursday morning in south Spokane.
The call came in just after 8:45 Thursday morning near 33rd and Grand, not far from the Manito Shopping Center.
Sacajawea Middle School is just a few blocks away, as is the temporary location for Adams Elementary School at 37th and Grand. Jefferson Elementary School is a few blocks to the west.
A spokesperson for Spokane Schools says they’ve been advised to place Adams, Sacajawea and Jefferson Elementary School in a secure and teach. They’ve issued similar advisories for Hutton, Wilson and Roosevelt Elementary Schools, which are not in the immediate vicinity. The secure and teach was lifted around 9:30 a.m.
