Spokane police search for suspect in reported early morning drive-by shooting near Cannon Park

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a reported drive-by shooting that occurred Wednesday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 3, Spokane police received a call for a reported drive-by shooting near Maple Street and Mission Avenue.

As officers arrived on scene, a vehicle sped away in a stolen vehicle attempting to flee the scene but crashed into a fence.

A spokesperson from the Spokane Police Department says that the suspect fled on foot. Multiple police officers and K9s searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect.

Spokane police were also unable to locate a victim of the reported drive-by shooting, but they did find a handgun on scene.

The stolen vehicle was cleared from the scene around 5 a.m. this morning. All lanes on Maple Street have been reopened to traffic.

Spokane police will continue to investigate on scene and get statements from witnesses.
