Spokane police officer kills suspect after woman was shot while on the phone with 911

SPOKANE, Wash. – Early Monday morning, calls came into the Spokane Police Department about a woman being shot near Wellesley and Nevada Avenues.

Just after midnight, Spokane Police received a call from a woman who says a man who had been staying with her had been threatening her with a gun.

While on the phone with the victim, police say they heard gunfire and the woman had then said she had been shot.

When police arrived at the home they found the suspect, engaged fire and one officer shot and killed him.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds to her arm and neck. Her current condition is unknown.

The relationship between the man and woman is unknown at this point.

The woman’s son was also in the house, but he was able to get away uninjured after monitoring cameras from inside.

No officers were injured in this incident.

As investigations are ongoing, Wellesley Avenue remains closed from Nevada to Morton. Please avoid the area until further notice.
