Spokane police clear scene at ‘contained barricade situation’ near Rogers High School

SPOKANE, Wash. — The scene has been cleared and all law enforcement units have left the home.

At this time we don’t have any further detail regarding what prompted this standoff.

Spokane police are currently on scene at a “contained barricade situation” on Helena Street near Rogers High School.

Around 7 a.m. on Feb. 1, police responded to a home on north Helena Street and east Queen Avenue.

As of 9 a.m., police have blocked off Olympic Avenue and Queen Avenue while police attempt to negotiate with someone who has locked themselves inside their home.

If you are driving in this area, law enforcement is asking you to take alternate routes to avoid blocked off areas.

At this time we don’t know details about what prompted this standoff or how long law enforcement will be on scene at the location.

Rogers High School and Whitman Elementary School are aware of the standoff and have been informed that it is a contained barricade. The schools are currently not under any sort of lockdown, but will continue to access the situation.
